Fulfilling Our Commitment at Arlington Landfill

Fulfilling Our Commitment at Arlington Landfill

The Arlington Landfill team announced today a significant construction project to place a final cap over 22 acres of the southeast portion of the Landfill. This project fulfills a commitment the Landfill made to the community in late 2016. In the coming months, neighbors will see the Landfill team installing the cap’s base layer of engineered soil liner and cover soils, incorporating an irrigation system and drainage structures and planting enhanced vegetation and grass.

As a good neighbor, the Arlington Landfill team worked directly with Viridian developers to design a closure and landscaping plan that fits the community’s look and feel. In fact, the vegetation the team will plant consists of the same variety found in the community, including Texas Mountain Laurels, Crepe Myrtles, Desert Willows, and Purple Muhly Grass.

While the team completes this project, disposal operations will continue in the northeast portion of the Landfill for approximately the next 18 months. Once that section is filled to grade, the Landfill team will place a final cap on it and plant the same enhanced vegetation to maintain a consistent look across the entire slope.

We are honored to be a part of this community and are excited about these developments. We look forward to keeping you informed on our progress.
